The Official Rules of Poker

If you play poker, you’ve probably come across the official rules of the game. These rules are set by the professional Tournament Directors Association (TDA), a group formed by four poker players in 2001. The TDA now has more than 2,500 members from 63 countries and meets twice a year to review the game’s rules. One of its members is WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel. Although these rules have their own set of differences, they are essentially the same.

The World Series of idn play has been around for more than 130 years, and in 2009 the International Federation of Poker was established in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is the official governing body of poker and aims to promote the sport as a sport of the mind. It recently announced plans for two new events for 2011 – a duplicate team tournament, known as “The Table,” and an invitational event featuring 130 of the world’s best poker players.

To play poker, you must respect the rules of the game. When playing, players must show their cards face up on the table. Then, you must hold onto them until a winner is declared. Otherwise, you risk losing the pot. You should always respect other players’ decisions, even if they are not yours. If you are not able to follow the rules of the game, don’t be embarrassed to ask for help. Many online poker sites have instructions that you can read before playing.
